The First Enrollment attendance icons help staff identify when a student is attending a class, session, level, or location for the first time. These icons can also highlight when a student is entirely new to the organization. The System can display these indicators in the Office Portal, on roll sheets, and in the Staff Portal mobile interface, depending on your settings.
Overview
The First Enrollment attendance icons are designed to give coaches and staff quick visual cues when a student is meeting specific “first time” criteria. These indicators help instructors understand whether a student is brand new to the organization, a particular location, a class, a session, or a level.
The icons will appear next to the student's enrollment on the first day they attend class. If the student is marked “ABSENT” on their first date of class or if attendance is not recorded at all, the icon continues to display until the student is successfully marked “PRESENT.”
First Enrollment Icon Types

First Day Ever
- Displays when the student has no previous enrollments in the database or has never been marked “Present.”
- If a student has prior enrollments but was only ever marked “Absent,” they will continue to show “First Day Ever” until a “Present” attendance record exists.

First Day at Location
- Displays when the student has no previous enrollments associated with the specific Location.

First Day in Class
- Displays when the student has no previous enrollments associated with the specific class.

First Day in Session
- Displays when the student has no previous enrollments associated with the Session assigned to the class.

First Day in Level
- Displays when the student has no previous enrollments associated with classes assigned to the same Class Level.
Accessing the Feature
Administrators can enable or disable the First Enrollment icons from within Student Settings.
- Navigate to SETTINGS>SETUP>STUDENT SETTINGS>STUDENT OPTIONS.
- Review the available options that control where and when First Enrollment icons appear.

Enabling/Disabling First Enrollment Icon Options
Use the settings listed below to configure icon visibility within different parts of the System.

Show New Enrollment Icon in Office Portal
- Enables or disables displaying First Enrollment icons throughout the Office Portal.

- Enables or disables displaying First Enrollment icons on roll sheets.

Show First Time In Session icon
- Displays a “New Enrollment” icon the first time a student attends class within a new session.
- Requires at least one of the following to be enabled:
- Show New Enrollment Icon in Reports
- Show New Enrollment Icon in Staff Portal

Show New Enrollment Icon For First Time In Class
- Displays a “New Enrollment” icon the first time a student attends a specific class.
- Requires one of the same prerequisite settings listed above.

- Displays a “New Enrollment” icon when the student has no prior enrollments in the database or has never been marked “Present.”
- Requires one of the same prerequisite settings listed above.

- Displays a “New Enrollment” icon when the student has no previous enrollments associated with the selected Location.
- For accounts with a single Location, enabling this may cause the icon to appear for all new enrollments.

- Displays a “New Enrollment” icon when the student has no previous enrollments associated with classes sharing the same Class Level.
- Requires one of the same prerequisite settings listed above.

Troubleshooting & FAQs

Why is the First Enrollment icon still showing even after the student’s first scheduled class date?
- The icon displays until the student is marked “Present.” If they are marked “Absent” or if attendance is not recorded, the icon continues to appear.

Why do icons appear for all students at my gym even though they have been enrolled before?
- If your organization uses a single Location and the setting “Show New Enrollment Icon For First Enrollment At This Location” is enabled, the icon will display for any enrollment that meets the “first time at Location” criteria.

Do I need to enable icons in more than one area for the additional options to function?
- Yes. The “session,” “class,” “ever,” “location,” and “level” options require at least one of the following to be enabled first: “Show New Enrollment Icon in Reports” or “Show New Enrollment Icon in Staff Portal.”
