Ordering Tuition Schedule pricing based on "Count By" settings
The “Count By” settings when configuring your Tuition Schedule will affect how students and lessons are ranked to figure how much each student should be charged.
In the examples below:
Students are represented by GREEN NUMBERS
Lessons (classes/hours/time slots) are represented by BLUE LETTERS.
COLUMNS represent the number of students in the family.
ROWS represent the number of lessons (classes/hours/time slots).
Therefore, cell references represent STUDENT : LESSONS.
It should be noted that mixing tuition schedules with classes using different billing setups is not advised, as this can cause the system to calculate classes/hours/timeslots differently than expected. (For example, using the same tuition schedule with a class that bills by "Flat Rate" and another class that bills "Hourly").
Scenario 1
(Count Classes ONE AT A TIME / Count Students ONE AT A TIME)
Example:
Three students in the family. All are enrolled in the same class.
Tuition Schedule Settings:
Count Classes/Time Slots/Hours By: ONE AT A TIME
Count Students By: ONE AT A TIME
Result:
Each student has one enrollment and each student is counted separately. Therefore:
Student 1 is charged the amount in cell 1:1 for their enrollment.
Student 2 is charged the amount in cell 2:1 for their enrollment.
Student 3 is charged the amount in cell 3:1 for their enrollment.
Scenario 2
(Count Classes ONE AT A TIME / Count Students ONE AT A TIME, additional enrollments)
Example:
Three students in the family. All are enrolled in the same class.
Student 1 is also enrolled in a second class/timeslot/hour.
Tuition Schedule Settings:
Count Classes/Time Slots/Hours By: ONE AT A TIME
Count Students By: ONE AT A TIME
Result:
Student 1 has two total enrollments. Students 2 & 3 each have one. Each student is counted separately Therefore:
Student 1 is charged the COMBINED TOTAL of cells 1:1 and 1:2 for their enrollments.
Student 2 is charged the amount in cell 2:1 for their enrollment.
Student 3 is charged the amount in cell 3:1 for their enrollment.
For Student 1, classes will be ranked based on the highest tuition.
Scenario 3
(Count Classes TOTAL / Count Students ONE AT A TIME)
Example:
Three students in the family. All are enrolled in the same class.
Tuition Schedule Settings:
Count Classes/Time Slots/Hours By: TOTAL
Count Students By: ONE AT A TIME
Result:
There are 3 total enrollments for the family and each student is counted separately. Therefore:
Student 1 is charged the amount in cell 1:3 for their enrollment.
Student 2 is charged the amount in cell 2:3 for their enrollment.
Student 3 is charged the amount in cell 3:3 for their enrollment.
Scenario 4
(Count Classes TOTAL / Count Students TOTAL)
Example:
Three students in the family. Each are enrolled in a different class.
Tuition Schedule Settings:

Student 3 is charged the amount in cell 3:3 for their enrollment.

Result:
There are 3 total students in the family, each enrolled in one class. Therefore:
Student 1 is charged the amount in cell 3:1 for their enrollment.
Student 2 is charged the amount in cell 3:2 for their enrollment.
Student 3 is charged the amount in cell 3:3 for their enrollment.
Scenario 6
(Count Classes ONE AT A TIME / Count Students TOTAL)

Student 1 is charged the amount in cell 3:1 for their enrollment.
Student 2 is charged the amount in cell 3:2 for their enrollment.
Student 3 is charged the amount in cell 3:3 for their enrollment.
Classes will be ranked based on the highest tuition.
NOTE: Pricing for Scenario 6 is the same as Scenario 5 as the classes are counted in the same manner. The only difference is the classes in which the students are enrolled.
Scenario 7
(Count Classes ONE AT A TIME PER STUDENT / Count Students TOTAL)

Student 2 is charged the amount in cell 3:1 for their enrollment.
Student 3 is charged the amount in cell 3:1 for their enrollment.

Student 3 is charged the COMBINED TOTAL of cells 3:1 and 3:2 for their enrollments.
For Student 3, classes will be ranked based on the highest tuition.

Student 2 is charged the amount in cell 3:3 for their enrollment.
Student 3 is charged the amount in cell 3:3 for their enrollment.
NOTE: Pricing for Scenario 9 is the same as Scenario 4 as the classes are counted in the same manner. The only difference is the classes in which the students are enrolled.
Scenario 10
(Count Classes ONE AT A TIME PER STUDENT / Count Students ONE AT A TIME)
Example:
Three students in the family. All are enrolled in the same class.
Tuition Schedule Settings:
Count Classes/Time Slots/Hours By: ONE AT A TIME PER STUDENT

Student 2 is charged the amount in cell 2:1 for their enrollment.
Student 3 is charged the amount in cell 3:1 for their enrollment.
NOTE: Pricing for Scenario 10 is the same as Scenario 1 as setting the "Count Classes/Time Slots/Hours" option to "One at a Time Per Student" only affects scenarios when you also choose to "Count Students By Total" and there are multiple active students in the family. (Otherwise, it is expected that the system works the same as if you just set the "Count Classes/Time Slots/Hours By" option to "One at a Time.")
