Which Staff Permissions are Needed to Use Point of Sale?

In order to use the Point of Sale system, staff members will need to be granted permission to do so.  There are several staff permissions available to control whether or not staff can access the Point of Sale system and whether or not they can override prices:

PAGE PERMISSIONS

  • Point of Sale Page – if disabled, the staff member will not be able to access the Point of Sale Page.

If staff members need to be able to select which Barcode Types can be used when scanning product barcodes via Webcam, they will need the Settings Page permission to be able to access the SETTINGS>SETUP>"Point of Sale" settings.

TASK PERMISSIONS

  • Point of Sale - if disabled, staff members will not be able to perform any actions related to Point of Sale, even if they have permission to access the Point of Sale page.
  • Point of Sale Price Override – if enabled, the staff member will be allowed to manually edit the price of an item in the shopping cart. (The original price is recorded with the transaction as it is with sale items.)
  • Point of Sale Vendor Logins - if disabled, staff members will not be able to see login information for vendors under POINT OF SALE>VENDORS.
  • Point of Sale Products/Category/Vendor – if disabled, the staff member will not be able to access the Point of Sale Products, Category, or Vendor areas.
  • Point of Sale Inventory – if disabled, the staff member will not be able to access the Point of Sale Inventory area.
  • Point of Sale Purchases – if disabled, the staff member will not be able to access the Point of Sale Purchases area.
  • Return Point of Sale Purchases – If disabled, the staff member will not be able to make returns for Point of Sale Purchases.
