Learn how to purchase a Gift Certificate via the Customer Portal, regardless of whether the user is logged in or not.

If the payment gateway on your account is only configured for eCheck transactions, the "Gift Certificate" option will not be displayed on your Customer Portal this method of payment is not supported for Gift Certificate purchases. Credit/debit card payments must be allowed to offer this feature to your customers.
Making a Purchase if the user is logged into the Customer Portal
- Click on the “eGift Cards” link in the navigation menu. (NOTE: The link title will match what you have specified under SETTINGS>CUSTOMER PORTAL>OTHER SETTINGS>GIFT CERTIFICATES>TITLE)
- Fill in the following details:
- Amount to Spend
- If you have selected “Fixed Amount”, this will automatically be filled in.
- If you have selected “Any Amount”, the purchaser will enter an amount between the minimum/maximum amount specified in SETTINGS>CUSTOMER PORTAL>OTHER SETTINGS>GIFT CERTIFICATES.
- What You’re Actually Credited – the actual amount of credit to be extended to the recipient, taking into account any Multipliers. This field will automatically populate based on your fixed credit amount or multiplier settings.
- This is a Gift for Somebody Else - enable this option if the credit should be extended to someone other than the family that is logged in. If this option is disabled the credit will be created for the family that is logged in when the purchase is made.
- Recipient Full Name – the name of the family to receive the credit. This information will be included as part of the Gift Certificate Credit title.
- Recipient Email - the email address that will be used to notify the family receiving the credit that a gift certificate has been purchased for them.
- Your Full Name - this will automatically populate based on the Primary Guardian on the account that is logged in. It will be included as part of the Payment Title and will be used to identify the purchaser in the email sent to the family receiving the gift certificate.
- Your Email – the email address of the person making the purchase. This will automatically populate based on the Primary Email of the account that is logged in and will be included as part of the Payment Title. This information may be used by staff to reach out to the purchaser if the Recipient Name cannot be used to definitively match a specific family or student in the database.
- Your Phone Number – the phone number of the person making the purchase. This will automatically populate based on the Primary Phone number of the account that is logged in and will be included as part of the Payment Title. This information may be used by staff to reach out to the purchaser if the Recipient Name cannot be used to definitively match a specific family or student in the database.
- Gift Message - this message is limited to 250 characters and will be included in the email sent to the recipient. (This field will only appear if "This is a Gift for Somebody Else" is enabled.)
- Amount to Spend
- Use Autopay on File – enabling this option will use the customer's saved payment information to complete the purchase. (This option only appears if the family has saved payment information on file.)
- Click the BUY NOW! button – this will launch the payment form to complete the checkout and email a receipt to the customer who purchased the Gift Certificate.
- The “Buy Now!” button will remain inactive until all required fields are filled out.
- The payment form will automatically populate based on their account settings and they should just need to enter payment details after verifying that it is correct.
Making a Purchase if the user is NOT logged into the Customer Portal
- Click on the “eGift Cards” link in the navigation menu. (NOTE: The link title will match what you have specified under SETTINGS>CUSTOMER PORTAL>OTHER SETTINGS>GIFT CERTIFICATES>TITLE)
- Fill in the following details:
- Amount to Spend
- If you have selected “Fixed Amount”, this will automatically be filled in.

Redeeming Gift Certificates
