How Are Skill Evaluations Displayed in the Customer Portal?

Overview

Skill evaluations help customers monitor a student's progress across skills within a Skill Tree. These evaluations can include ratings, comments, URLs, and media—depending on which Portal settings administrators enable. When enabled, families can review these evaluations directly from the Customer Portal.

Accessing the Feature

Administrators control whether skill evaluations and related elements are visible in the Customer Portal via the following settings found under SETTINGS>CUSTOMER PORTAL> OTHER SETTINGS>GENERAL SETTINGS:

  • Show Skill Evaluations in Customer Portal – Enables the “Evaluations” tab under the student's account.
  • Show Only Evaluated Skills in Customer Portal – Limits visibility to skills with evaluations, regardless of current enrollments.
  • Show Student Images in Customer Portal – Controls whether student photos uploaded to their profiles appear in the Portal.

Step-by-Step Instructions

Accessing Skill Evaluations in the Customer Portal

After logging into their Customer Portal account:

  1. Navigate to MY ACCOUNT.
  2. Select Evaluations under the student's name in the "Your Students" list.

What Customers Will See

Once Evaluations has been selected, customers will see a structured list reflecting the Skill Tree layout:

  • Skill Tree (Discipline)
  • Level
  • Event
  • Skill Name

Each skill clearly shows its evaluation rating and associated information.

Displaying Comments and URLs

If enabled, evaluations may also include comments and external URLs, such as videos or supplementary resources.

To enable comments:

  1. Navigate to SETTINGS > SETUP > GENERAL SETTINGS > SKILL TRACKING.
  2. Select Enable Comments on Evaluations (Visible to Customer).

Comments and URLs entered during skill evaluations will be visible within the Customer Portal.

Displaying Skill Descriptions and Media

Customers can access additional skill details (descriptions, photos, videos) by selecting View Skill Details within an evaluation.

Individual skill details can be managed by selecting the appropriate skill at SETTINGS > SETUP > GENERAL SETTINGS > SKILL TRACKING > SKILL BANK.

Linked media items can be individually set as visible or hidden from customers.

If No Evaluations Exist

If no evaluations are available for a student, customers see the message: "No evaluations found."

Troubleshooting & FAQs

  • Why can customers not see the Evaluations tab?
    • Confirm that Show Skill Evaluations in Customer Portal is enabled under SETTINGS>CUSTOMER PORTAL>OTHER SETTINGS>GENERAL SETTINGS.
  • Why are only some skills visible?
    • If Show Only Evaluated Skills in Customer Portal is enabled, only skills with at least one evaluation will appear.
  • Why are comments or video links missing?
    • Verify that Enable Comments on Evaluations (Visible to Customer) is enabled under Settings > Setup > General Settings > Skill Tracking.
  • Why is media not appearing in skill details?
    • Check the “Visible to Customers” toggle for each media item in Skill Bank.
