What is a Skill/Skill Bank?
Simply put, a "Skill" is a specific task students will need to master to complete an Event, Level, or Discipline. Skills
The "Skill Bank" is where you will maintain this list of skills.
Creating a Skill
With iClassPro’s Skills feature you will need to set up your skill bank. The skill bank is a list of skills from your school curriculum.
Skills can be attached to multiple Events/Levels/Disciplines. Therefore, evaluating a skill once will automatically record that evaluation for every Event/Level/Discipline to which it is attached. If you need to evaluate skills individually for each Event/Level/Discipline, you should create a unique skill for each.
Step 1:
First you will need to navigate to your skill tracking settings. Go to:
Settings > Skills
Step 2:
To add skills, choose the Skill Bank Tab.
Step 3:
Click Create New Skill.
Step 4:
Enter the details of your Skill:
-
(optional) Skill Code (Limited to 5 characters)
- The Skill Code is a code associated with a specific skill that is reflected on the "Instructor Roster Report (STA-8)" and "Class/Camp Roster Report (STA-9)" if the option to "Show Skills" is enabled.
- Name
- (optional) Description
- (optional) Notes to Instructors
- (optional) Skill Tags
Having skill descriptions and media will allow your staff to access that information from the Staff Portal.
A Note about using Tags:
Skill tags are used to differentiate skills of the same name. For example, if you want a Beginner Handstand and an Advanced Handstand, you can use tags to help organize and label.
Skill Tags are only visible in the Skill Bank itself and on the "Attach Skills" screen for Levels/Events to help you determine which skill should be attached to a specific Level/Event.
Step 5:
Save your skill.
- Clicking SAVE will save your new Skill and leave it open for more editing.
- Clicking CREATE ANOTHER will save the current skill and bring up a blank skill form

Editing/Removing a Skill
To edit or remove a skill, simply click on the skill name and make any changes needed. It is important to note that any changes made to the skill will be reflected anywhere it appears within a skill tree. Removing a skill will remove it entirely along with any associated skill ratings and student records.
How Do I Attach a Skill to a Discipline/Level/Event?
Use the "Attach Skills" button below the Discipline/Level/Event to select a skill to attach:
After clicking the button, an "Attach Skills" window will appear on the right-hand side of the screen.
By default, only the first 20 skills will be shown. However, you can search or filter the results using the options provided at the top of the list. Navigation buttons are also available to move between results pages.
Any skill(s) that are already attached to the Discipline/Level/Event will already be selected.
Make any necessary changes:
- Select any additional skill(s) you wish to attach
- Deselect any skills that were already attached
- Click "Apply Changes" when you are finished.
The system will update the Discipline/Level/Event so only the skill(s) that were selected will be attached.
NOTE: Removing skills does not remove existing evaluations for those skills. However, you may have to choose to view all skills when performing evaluations if a particular skill is no longer attached to a class in which the student you are evaluating is enrolled.
