Which Settings Can Override or Limit Discount Schedules?

IN BRIEF
Additional system settings can influence how Discount Schedules are applied. These options allow you to override schedules for individual classes, limit discounts to specific billing schedules, and determine how overridden tuitions are treated.

Overview

These system-level options affect how Discount Schedules are applied:

  • Apply a different Discount Schedule to a specific class.
  • Restrict discounts so they only apply when enrollments share the same billing schedule/type.
  • Choose whether tuition overrides are included when calculating discounts.

These settings are useful when different Programs, billing schedules, or custom pricing structures are in place.

The Limit Discounts to Enrollments With Same Billing Schedule option changes how the system ranks enrollments for discount purposes.

This setting is located under SETTINGS>SETUP>CLASS SETTINGS>GENERAL CLASS SETTINGS.

When enabled, only enrollments with the same billing schedule and billing type (flat rate, hourly, or timeslot) are counted together.

Examples

  • Scenario 1: there are two students in a family, each with a single enrollment. One is enrolled under the MONTHLY billing schedule; one is enrolled as SESSION.
    • For discount purposes, both enrollments will be ranked as Student 1, Class 1 since the enrollments use different billing schedules.
  • Scenario 2: there are two students in a family, each with a single enrollment. Both are enrolled under the MONTHLY billing schedule; however, one class is set to bill by TIMESLOT and one is set to FLAT RATE.
    • For discount purposes, both enrollments will be ranked as Student 1, Class 1 since they use different billing types.
  • Scenario 3: there is a single student in a family, enrolled in two classes. One enrollment uses the MONTHLY billing schedule; the other uses SESSION.
    • For discount purposes, both enrollments will be ranked as Student 1, Class 1 since the enrollments use different billing schedules.
  • Scenario 4: there is a single student in a family, enrolled in two classes. Both enrollments are under the MONTHLY billing schedule; however, one class is set to bill by TIMESLOT and one is set to FLAT RATE.
    • For discount purposes, both enrollments will be ranked as Student 1, Class 1 since they use different billing types.

NOTE: Enabling this setting affects both Discount Schedules AND Tuition Schedules.
