iClassPro does not include a built-in spell check function. However, administrators can use the spell check tools built into their web browser when typing Email Blasts, texts, announcements, and other written content in iClassPro.
Overview
iClassPro relies on the spell check capabilities built into the web browser used to access the System. When browser spell check is enabled, misspelled words are typically marked with a red underline while typing, similar to most word processing programs.
This can be useful when composing:
- Email Blasts
- Text messages
- Push notifications
- News & Announcements
- Other customer-facing communications
Because spell check is controlled by the browser, the exact setup steps depend on whether the user accesses iClassPro through Microsoft Edge, Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, or Safari.
Accessing the Feature
Spell check is accessed through the settings for the web browser used to access iClassPro.
- Open the browser used to access iClassPro.
- Enable spell check using the instructions for the appropriate browser.
- Return to iClassPro and type in a supported text field, such as an Email Blast, text message, or announcement.
- Review any words marked with a red underline.
Step-by-Step Instructions
Microsoft Edge
Enable the feature
- Type edge://settings/languages in the address bar and press Enter on your keyboard.
- In the Writing assistance section, toggle Use writing assistance or Enable grammar and spellcheck assistance to the on position.
- Choose a spell check engine option:
- Basic - processes spelling locally
- Microsoft Editor - uses Microsoft cloud services for spelling and grammar suggestions
Checking Spell/Grammar
- Type in a text field in iClassPro.
- Review any misspelled words marked with a red underline.
- If misspelled words are not marked, right-click in the text field and make sure Check Spelling is enabled in the context menu.
- To view a spelling suggestion, right-click the underlined word.
- Select the correct word from the list to update the text.
- Select outside of the menu to close it without making a change.
Google Chrome
Enable the feature
- Type chrome://settings/languages in the address bar and press Enter on your keyboard.
- In the Spell check section, enable Check for spelling errors when you type text on web pages.
- Choose the desired spell check option, if available:
- Basic - processes spelling locally
- Enhanced - sends text entered in the browser to Google for improved spelling suggestions
- Add custom words to the spell check dictionary, if available.

- Review any misspelled words marked with a red underline.
- If misspelled words are not marked, right-click in the text field and make sure an option is selected under Spell check in the context menu.
- To view a spelling suggestion, right-click the underlined word.

- Select outside of the menu to close it without making a change.
Mozilla Firefox
Enable the feature
- Type about:preferences in the address bar and press Enter on your keyboard.
- Go to the General panel.
- Scroll to the Language section.
- Enable Check your spelling as you type.
- Install or select dictionaries as needed.

- Review any misspelled words marked with a red underline.
- If misspelled words are not marked, right-click in the text field and make sure Check Spelling is enabled in the context menu.

NOTE: Firefox automatic spell-checking may only apply to multi-line text boxes.
Safari on Mac
Enable the feature
- Open Safari.
- Open the Edit menu from the top of the screen.
- Hover over Spelling and Grammar.
- Make sure Check Spelling While Typing is enabled.
- To check grammar as well, make sure Check Grammar With Spelling is enabled.

Browser add-ons and AI assistants
Browser add-ons such as "Grammarly" or AI assistants may affect how browser spell check options work. These tools may also prevent browser spell check from working as described.
If spell check does not behave as expected, temporarily disable browser add-ons or AI assistant tools, then test spell check again in iClassPro.
