How Do I Purchase SMS Credits in iClassPro?

The SMS feature in iClassPro allows businesses to send outgoing text messages to customers and staff. Before sending messages, SMS credits must be purchased. This article explains how to purchase credits, configure auto-renew settings, and resolve failed payments.

Overview

SMS messaging allows your business to send automated and manual notifications directly to mobile devices. Each message sent deducts from your available credit balance. Credits must be purchased in advance and can be automatically renewed when the balance falls below a set threshold.

NOTE: This document assumes that the SMS/Text Messaging feature has already been enabled for your account. If SMS messaging has not yet been activated, see our "How Do I Set Up SMS/Text Messaging" document.

Feature availability and cost per credit:

  • United States/Canada: $0.03 USD per credit
  • Australia: $0.08 USD per credit (+ additional monthly fee)
  • New Zealand: $0.12 USD per credit
  • United Kingdom: $0.06 USD per credit
  • Other countries: Contact iClassPro Support for availability and pricing

Notes:

  • SMS messaging is two-way communication. Direct replies from customers can be accessed from the Messenger Center.
  • You must be logged into a staff profile with Admin Access (Full Permissions) to purchase SMS credits.
  • All rates are subject to phone number and feature availability.

Accessing the Feature

  1. Log into the Office Portal.
  2. Navigate to SETTINGS>SETUP>GENERAL SETTINGS>SMS.
  3. Verify that your assigned SMS phone number and available credit balance are displayed.

Step-by-Step Instructions

Complete Setup

Once setup is complete:

  • Your assigned phone number appears under SETTINGS>SETUP>GENERAL SETTINGS>SMS.
  • The number of available credits purchased for your account will also be displayed.
  • A valid form of payment must be stored under SETTINGS>BILLING INFORMATION to complete purchases.

Purchasing SMS Credits

Only staff members with Admin Access (Full Permissions) can purchase SMS credits.

  1. Go to SETTINGS>SETUP>GENERAL SETTINGS>SMS.
  2. Under Purchase More Credits, enter the number of credits you wish to purchase.
    1. Minimum purchase: 100 credits
    2. The system automatically calculates the total cost.
  3. Review your purchase total.
  4. Select Submit Purchase Request to bill the account on file (credit card or bank account).
  5. If the transaction is successful, credits are added immediately and available for use.

Configure Auto-Renew Settings

Only administrators with access to Settings can configure Auto-Renew.

  1. Go to SETTINGS>SETUP>GENERAL SETTINGS>SMS.
  2. Under Purchase More Credits, enable Auto-Renew Settings.
  3. Enter:
    1. Automatically purchase X credits: number of credits to be purchased each time auto-renew triggers.
    2. When balance is below X credits: threshold that triggers automatic purchase.
  4. Review totals and select Submit Auto-renew Request to save.

Notes:

  • The system will automatically bill the account on file (credit card or bank account) whenever Auto-Renew is triggered.
  • To ensure no interruptions for automatically triggered SMS jobs:
    • If Auto-renew credits is enabled, iClassPro monitors SMS credit use.
    • A single purchase occurs around 10:00 AM Central Time (US) on the first of each month if the threshold is reached.
    • This purchase covers all credits used and restores the balance above the threshold.
    • Regular communications are sent to the primary contact when multiples of the configured amount are reached (e.g., if the system is set to automatically purchase 200 credits, notifications are sent when 200, 400, etc., credits will be purchased).

Troubleshooting & FAQs

  • Why was my auto-renew payment declined?
    • If a payment fails for auto-purchasing credits, the Auto-Renew feature is automatically disabled. The Audit Log records: “SMS credit auto-renew failed. Auto-renew disabled; see SETTINGS>SETUP>GENERAL SETTINGS>SMS for more information.”
  • How can I restore SMS functionality after a failed payment?
    • Navigate to SETTINGS>SETUP>GENERAL SETTINGS>SMS. You will see a message stating that iClassPro attempted to auto-purchase credits, but the payment was declined.
    • Update billing information under SETTINGS>BILLING INFORMATION or contact iClassPro at 877-554-6776. Once payment is updated, the system retries the charge. If successful, credits are added and Auto-Renew is re-enabled.
  • Can I receive replies to messages sent through iClassPro?
    • No. The assigned SMS number is a no-reply number used only for outgoing messages.
