IN BRIEF
Skill Trees can be linked at the Program level so that all associated Classes, Appointments, and Camps automatically inherit the same structure. Administrators can also override defaults by customizing Skill Trees for individual Classes, Appointments, or Camps.
Overview
Linking Skill Trees allows you to define the skills, levels, disciplines, and events that students should progress through within a Program. When a Skill Tree is linked to a Program, iClassPro automatically assigns that tree to all Classes, Appointments, and Camps tied to the Program. You can then optionally override the default Skill Tree settings for individual items when specialized instruction or variations are needed.
Important Notes
- At least one skill must be attached to a Discipline, Level, or Event for it to appear as an option when linking Skill Trees to Programs, Classes, Appointments, or Camps.
- Linking at the Program level ensures consistency across multiple offerings within the same Program.
- Editing at the Class, Appointment, or Camp level allows instructors to tailor specific variations of a Skill Tree to meet unique instructional needs.
Accessing the Feature
- Navigate to SETTINGS>SETUP>GENERAL SETTINGS.
- Expand the Programs section.
- Select the pencil/edit icon beside the Program you want to configure.
Step-by-Step Instructions
Linking Skill Trees to Programs
Linking Skill Trees at the Program level ensures that all Classes, Appointments, and Camps tied to that Program will use the selected Skill Tree by default.
- Navigate to SETTINGS>SETUP>GENERAL SETTINGS.
- Expand the Programs section and select the pencil/edit icon next to the Program.
- Select the Skill Tree tab.
- You will see a list of Skill Trees with checkboxes next to each:
- Discipline
- Level
- Event
- Skill
- Select all entries that apply to the Program.
- Select Save.
- All Classes, Appointments, and Camps associated with the Program will now use this Skill Tree by default.
Additional Details
- You can link multiple Skill Trees if the Program includes more than one discipline or event type.
- Any changes made at the Program level will be applied system-wide for all linked offerings unless manually overridden at the Class, Appointment, or Camp level.
Linking or Editing Skill Trees for Specific Classes, Appointments, or Camps
Administrators can customize Skill Trees at the individual offering level for greater control.
- Navigate to the CLASSES, APPOINTMENTS, or CAMPS page.
- Select the pencil/edit icon next to the specific event you want to modify.
- Select the Skill Tree tab.
- The default Skill Tree (inherited from the assigned Program) displays.
- Select the checkboxes for the specific entries you want to enable:
- Discipline
- Level
- Event
- Skill
- Save your changes.
Additional Details
- Editing Skill Trees at this level overrides the default Program-level Skill Tree for that specific offering.
- This is useful for Programs that share a common structure but have specialized Classes that emphasize different skills or levels.
Troubleshooting & FAQs
-
Why is my Skill Tree not showing up when I try to link it?
- Confirm that at least one skill has been attached to a Discipline, Level, or Event. Skill Trees without linked skills will not appear when assigning trees to Programs, Classes, Appointments, or Camps.
-
If I edit a Skill Tree at the Class level, does it affect the Program?
- No. Edits at the Class, Appointment, or Camp level only affect the selected offering. The Program-level Skill Tree remains intact.
-
Can I assign multiple Skill Trees to one Program?
- Yes. Programs that include multiple Disciplines or Levels can have multiple Skill Trees linked as long as the necessary Skills and categories are defined and active.
