Marketing and Branding settings control the mobile app download links, the kiosk logo, and Google Analytics or Google Tag Manager tracking for your Customer Portal.
Note
Your portal's look and general setup live in the main Customer Portal settings, not here. See How Do I Set Up the Customer Portal?
Open the Marketing and Branding settings
- In the top-right corner, select the person icon to open your user menu. Select Settings.
- Select Customer Portal in the left-hand menu to expand it.
- Select Other Settings to open the Other Settings page.
- Select Marketing and Branding to expand that section.
Choose your settings
Fill in only the settings you use. Leave the rest blank.
-
Show mobile app download links — check this box to show App Store and Google Play links in the Customer Portal menu.
- The links open your Branded App, if you have one. If not, they open the iClassPro App.
-
Kiosk Logo — upload the logo for the Check-In Kiosk.
- Best size: a square, 600 by 600 pixels. iClassPro resizes it as needed.
- The logo saves as soon as it uploads.
- Google Analytics — enter your Measurement ID. It starts with G-, such as G-XXXXXXX.
- Google Tag Manager — enter your Container ID. It starts with GTM-, such as GTM-XXXXXXX.
- Select Save to save the checkbox and both Google IDs.
Warning
Filling in both Google fields can log the same activity twice.
- Using Tag Manager? Set up your Google Analytics tag inside Tag Manager.
- Then leave the iClassPro Google Analytics field empty.
✓ You're all set. Your Marketing and Branding settings are saved.
Track visitors across your website and the Customer Portal (optional)
Cross-domain tracking counts one visitor as one person when they move from your website to the Customer Portal. You set it up in Google, not in iClassPro.
- Google Analytics — add your website's domain and your Customer Portal's domain under Configure your domains. Follow Google's guide to cross-domain measurement.
- Google Tag Manager — see the Google Tag Manager Help Center.
Google changes its menus from time to time, so its own guide has the current steps.
✓ You're all set. Google now counts a visitor's trip from your website to the Customer Portal as one visit.
Events iClassPro sends to Google
iClassPro sends these Customer Portal events to Google Analytics or Google Tag Manager.
▶ See the event list
- family-registering — a family selects the button to start registering.
- family-created — a family finishes registering, and the family account is created.
- add-to-cart — a family raises an item's amount in the cart with the + button.
- added-to-cart — an item is first added to the cart from another part of the portal.
- remove-from-cart — an item is removed from the cart.
- remove-all-cart-items — every item is removed from the cart. This event doesn't say which items were removed.
- checkout-started — a family selects the button to start checkout.
- checkout-complete — a family finishes checkout.
Third-party data sharing in Marketing Journey and cookie consent
With Growth Engine (an optional add-on already available to customers), families choose which cookies to allow in the Customer Portal. Their choice decides which tracking tags load there. Without Growth Engine, every tag loads the way it always has. Currently, consent management applies only when Growth Engine is enabled, but it will be coming soon to all customers.
Scripts you paste on your own website don't follow this choice. Your website's own consent tool controls them.
▶ Show third-party data sharing and consent details
▶ Which tags wait for a family's choice
Families choose from three kinds of cookies: Analytics, Advertising (Google) and Advertising (Meta). Each tag loads only when the family's choice allows it.
- Marketing Journey tag (iClassPro's own) — needs both Advertising choices. Analytics isn't needed. If a family declines either one, this tag doesn't load.
- Your Google Tag Manager (from this page) — needs Analytics and both Advertising choices. Your container could send anything, so it needs all three.
- Your Google Analytics, with no Tag Manager — needs Analytics only.
- Events sent to your website — when the portal sits inside your website, these need all three choices.
- Strictly necessary tools — always load. The Lead Capture widget always shows, too. Only the event it sends when a family submits it waits for a choice.
Every tag needs a saved choice. In some regions, the cookie boxes start checked. Those checks don't count until the family saves.
▶ What the Marketing Journey tag collects
Every event includes:
- iClassPro's own family, guardian, location and organization IDs
- A session ID
- Ad click IDs from the web address, such as gclid and fbclid
- The page visited
- The browser type
Cart and checkout events also include item names, prices and quantities.
Purchase events also include the guardian's email, phone, name, city, state, ZIP code and country. These are scrambled (hashed with SHA-256) before they leave the browser.
Item names and guardian details — iClassPro uses these to show your Marketing Journey Dashboard. They never reach Google or Meta.
Students — student IDs and names are removed from every event.
▶ What reaches Google Ads
- Purchase — the order value, currency, transaction ID and the items (item IDs, prices and quantities).
- Add to cart, checkout started, account sign-up and lead form submitted — a conversion only, with no items or order value. A sign-up is marked as a new customer.
▶ What reaches Meta
- Shopping events — add to cart, remove from cart, view item, view cart, checkout started and purchase.
- Account sign-up — sent as a completed registration.
- Lead form submitted — sent as a lead.
▶ What Google and Meta events can include
- Can include — item IDs, quantities, prices, order value, currency, your organization's code and the location ID.
- Never include — item names, email, phone, name, address, or family and guardian IDs.
▶ Scripts you paste on your own website
The Marketing Journey settings page gives you scripts to paste into your website's header. To find them, see How Do I Configure the Marketing Journey Settings?
- Google Ads tag — Google's standard tag. It adds its data to your website's data layer. It also links visits across iclasspro.com, app.iclasspro.com and embed.iclasspro.com.
- Meta Pixel — Meta's standard base code. It records a page view.
- Attribution script — passes ad tracking details from your website to the Customer Portal.
Need consent on your website? These scripts run on your website, so the iClassPro cookie choice doesn't control them. Place them under your own website's consent tool.
Troubleshooting
▶ Common Questions
▶ Why am I seeing the same activity twice?
Both Google fields are probably filled in. Set up your Google Analytics tag inside Tag Manager. Then clear the iClassPro Google Analytics field and select Save.
▶ Why don't some purchases show up in Google?
Only checkout through the standard cart sends events. These don't send any:
- Party bookings
- Gift certificate purchases
- Redeeming makeup tokens or Punch Passes
▶ Can I add other analytics or ad-tracking code?
Possibly. iClassPro's content security policy limits which outside code can run in the Customer Portal. Ask Support at support@iclasspro.com whether your product is supported.
▶ Who helps with Google Analytics or Tag Manager setup?
Google's support team. iClassPro doesn't set up analytics or answer questions about Google's products.
