Submitting Future Absence Requests in the Parent Portal

iClassPro gives you the option to allow parents to record their own future absences via the Parent Portal. You decide whether these will be automatically approved or submitted as requests.

The option can be enabled under SETTINGS>SETUP>PARENT PORTAL>GENERAL SETTINGS.

Enabling the Option to Allow Future Absence Requests:

  • Allow Future Absence Requests – must be enabled for the option to request a future absence to show on the Parent Portal. If this option is enabled, the following options will appear to configure this feature:

    • Enable Deny Option for Future Absence Requests in Online Activity Window - if left disabled, future absence requests will only show the option to "Approve" when viewing Online Activity.
    • Auto-Approve Future Absence Requests – If enabled, all future absences created through the Parent Portal will be automatically approved. Auto-approved requests will be marked Unexcused by default unless the following option is enabled.
    • Excuse Auto-Approved Future Absence Requests - If enabled, all future absences created through the Parent Portal that are automatically approved will be marked as Excused.
    • Limit Excused Absences To At Least X Days/Hours/Minutes From Today – families will only be auto-approved and/or auto-excused for a future absence request within the number of days specified here.
      • If auto-approve is disabled, or if auto-approve is enabled and the request is outside the time frame, the system will not keep the family from submitting the request; however, a message will appear in the Online Activity entry warning the staff member processing the request that it was submitted outside the specified time frame. From here, staff can still choose to approve if they wish once this message is dismissed.
      • If auto-approve is enabled and auto-excuse is also enabled, the system will automatically approve/excuse anything within the specified time frame and auto-approve but NOT excuse anything outside the specified time frame.
    • Limit Absence Start Date to At Most X Days From Today – families will only be able to submit a future absence request for the number of days specified here. For example, if you enter “14”, they will not be able to request an absence for any further than 2 weeks from the current date.
