Full Ledger - EASIER TO READ

Every time I have to provide a complete ledger to a member, I have to run it by CHARGES and then by PAYMENTS and create the attached report because if I just email it as is, they are totally confused and I am on the phone trying to go over everything line for line.  While it is nice to know what payments applied to what charge, the ability to clearly see the payments and charges is crucial.

The other thing is that the Full Ledger (when running all ledgers) needs the ability to be able to be run for only active members, keyword searchable and select a range for the ledger.

I currently do this report in Excel and it would be nice if it can be exported to Excel.  I could then do any additional calculations or just send a PDF of the document.

I hope this is something that could be done as it is a heck of lot easier to program that applying payments to all the charges, etc.  It is just a list of all charges, followed by all payments and totals at the top for a certain range and the other criteria.  (Keywords are essential... sorting would be sweet too but can be accomplished in Excel if need be).

Thanks in advance for your consideration of this very crucial report enhancement (see attached sample)

Does anyone else out there deal with parents having a hard time following the the Full Ledger report?  I am always creating a report like the above in order to go over stuff with our parents....

Occasionally. I have given the full ledger report out to one family before and I admit they were confused but we cleared it up over the phone. I think with the new parent portal it is a lot easier for families to view the charges, payments and refunds individually and work out where there money is being spent.  I like the idea of your alternative ledger report. It is a lot clearer to read if you were to give it out to a costumer. In the same way there is a costumer class list report perhaps there could be a costumer ledger report similar to your design.

I tried to give a family the full ledger report one time and they were total confused.  I love your sample.  Customers don't necessarily care what payment was applied to what charge.  I like the fact that yours gives them the total charges and payments and remaining amount due.

Yes, my parents are totally confused as well on the ledger...Heck, I am confused when I try to look at it on paper!  Simplify the paper ledge.....Charges and Payments, if they want to see what payment was applied to what charge, they can look at it online that is much easier to read!  I also think the statements are hard to read as well.

Don't forget to click "LIKE" in addition to putting a comment, otherwise, it is not counted.  The Feature Requests move up as there are more "LIKES" not how many comments are put in unfortunately.  Don't want this feature to be forgotten about as this is a HUGE problem and very time consuming for us.

Thanks everyone!

I like the look of the complete ledger alternative, it is much cleaner and easier to understand.

The ledger & statements are very confusing to our customers, as is with us too ... we find ourselves always having to re calculate the charges on a calculator just to understand so we can explain to the customer standing on the other side of our counter. We used to use Quick Books, however our operation is too large now to keep using Quick Books, but the ledgers were easy for our customers to read and understand.

We just need a SIMPLE Statement and Ledger .....
